During the Spring of 2008, I worked as the documentary photographer for this participatory art, video and web project that promotes the heritage of Brixton.  This project was inspired by unique film footage shot between the 1960′s and 1980′s by Clovis Salmon “Sam The Wheels”, a Jamaican who arrived in London in the 1950′s. Clovis is an 80-year-old ex-Pentecostal minister, locally known as “Sam The Wheels” because he builds wheels at Holdsworth Cycles and for his home repair service.  Sam-the-Wheels is a project partnership with Mutiny Arts, The Anthill Social and 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning.

I documented the project culmination on May 1, 2008, which took place at the Contemporary 198 Gallery.  Some of these images, can be found on their collaborative website.  I’ve since left London, so my involvement ended, but the project is ongoing.
