‘Welcoming the World’, is a high-profile educational documentary project, funded by The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games. The project involved 523 students in 20 schools in five London 2012 Olympic Host Boroughs and is designed to encourage students in the five Host Boroughs, who are living and studying close to the heart of the London 2012 Games preparations, to document their local area to showcase to the rest of the world.
During this project, I assisted renowned British photographers Gideon Mendel, Crispin Hughes, and the lovely Marysa Dowling (whom I befriended after attending The Democratic Image conference that she spoke at in 2006) in the classroom with photographic workshops that included photographic training, street documentary sessions, homework and editing.
